6th Grade Math Teacher
Greetings! I am a teacher who loves to continue to learn.
I graduated from Tom Bean High School in 1995 and went straight to Southeastern Oklahoma State University to persue my career in education. I have a bachelor degree in elementary education and two master degrees as well as principal certification. I LOVE being in the classroom, teaching students.
Here is a list of my educational career:
1999- Bachelor of Elementary Education atSoutheastern Oklahoma State University
2006- Master of Science in Special Education at Texas A&M- Commerce
2018- Master of Education in Teacher Leadership at Lamar University
2023- Principal Certification at Lamar University
As an instructional coach in my prior job, I would present workshops to our local teachers of how to better their teaching. I attended CAMT this summer in Fort Worth, which allowed me to learn even more about 6th grade Math.
Welcome! I am your child’s 6th grade Math Teacher on Team Dartmouth. I am excited to be back home as a Paris WIldcat. This will be my 25th year in education. I am coming into the classroom a bit late this year, but very excited to be teaching math this year. This will be my 4th year in the district, with a year at Fannindel as an Instructional Coach.
I began teaching in 1999, at Bells Elementary. I taught 3rd grade self-contained and eventually moved to the Special Education department to teach Reading and Math to students in Kindergarten through 5th grade. I evenually moved to 5th grade to teach ELAR and U.S. History. From Bells, I moved to Honey Grove and taught 4th grade ELAR and Social Studies. When I first came to Paris, I taught 5th grade ELAR and moved to a 6th grade Self-Contained class where I learned to LOVE teaching math.
I knew from the time I was 5 years old that I wanted to be a teacher. I continue to learn, grow, and achieve goals I never thought were even possible.
I am Carla Walker, a mom, daughter, teacher, and friend. My daughter, Chloe, is 16 and just received her driver’s license. She loves to sing, play TikToks, and read. She is currently a Junior at Honey Grove High School. I have three cute dogs, Ruby, Lenny, and Lollipop. We enjoy spending our time traveling, seeing new places, and reading.
When I am not teaching, you can find me scrapbooking with friends, hanging out with Chloe, or shopping with my momma!
