Mascot (Copied)

This was the Crockett Volunteers mascot for the years 1963-1967. Principal Felix Gibson said, "I felt that every school should have their own identity. I was one of two or three people who picked the name Volunteers and the colors orange and white. We kind of molded those colors after the Univerity of Tennessee Volunteers (the state that Davy Crockett came from to defend the Alamo). I liked the name Volunteers . . . I liked the old coonskin cap. We used to have it up on the side of the gymnasium."
