Casey said his biggest challenge was being a peace keeper. "It was quite a challenge to get 600 meals prepared a day, to get 35 teachers prepared to teach every day, being responsible for their actions. I did have to correct teachers as well as students."
Some of the traditions that Casey helped to build during his time as principal were lost when Paris ISD consolidated its two middle schools in 1990. Both Crockett and Travis became the Wildcats with traditional Paris High colors of blue and white and the school song, Loyal and True. Casey said he "wish that you'd kept Red River Rock as the school song. That was something that meant a lot to me and the student body that we had a school song that had an individual touch." Red River Rock was an up-beat adaptation of Red River Valley.
