Reading/Writing!!

*What kind of Reader/Writer are you? How do they go together? What are your strength/weaknesses in each? Discuss some of the weaknesses and then brainstorm together some solutions for those weaknesses. Discuss the strengths and brainstorm how to make those even stronger. Create a T chart listing your S/W for each. (Weaknesses could be a fear...)  Lets voice concerns, excitement, past experiences with reading and writing.  Have one student at each table be the record keeper to validate all answers.

*Write “I Am Poems” describing self  as a reader/writer. Students will receive a template to fill out.

*Me as a Writer:  Set Up Writer’s Journal.   Share Amelia’s Notebook and talk about the purpose of a journal—place for freewrite, share your thoughts, reflect, respond,etc..

Put I Am Poem in the writer’s journal

*Hashtag Getting to Know Me Writing Activity

Discuss Purpose of this Writing Activity --Explain hashtags. Brainstorm ideas about self. Give students the brainstorm handout.  Model the handout by doing one about you.

Share a teacher created one so 1.They get to know more about you 2. See an example  After students finish the brainstorming page, they can start writing. (capital letters, punct, complete sentences)
